Type Locality and Naming
After Mount Baraktyntau, Kuramin Range. O.I. Sergun'kova, 1965 (457, p.85, 93). Earlier (382) it was described by O.I. Sergun'kova under the name "aquilinus layers," and in 1965 as the Baraktyn Fm. In Strat. Sl. (441) it is described under the name Baraktyn Fm.
Synonym: Baraktynskaya Suite, Барактынская св.
Lithology and Thickness
In the lower part, light-gray, fine-clastic limestones with pebble inclusions of underlying rocks, in the upper part - gray, fine-grained limestones. Thickness 217-330 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Transgressively overlies the Dzharbulak Fm
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by the Dalverzin Fm, and Along I.M. Nigmadzhanov, the Aktash Fm
Regional extent
Kuramin Range, Mounts Kalkanata, Baraktyntau.
